‘Reading the description of civilized interchange about governmental and political matters in the reasons of Heydon J, I had difficult in recognizing the Australian political system as I know it. His Honour’s chronicle appears more like a description of an intellectual salon where civility always (or usually) prevails. It is not, with respect, an accurate description of the Australian governmental and political system in action.’

unflinching in the quick turning
gaze of a proposition
knowing well
